As we approach the end of
The One and Only Ivan, think about all the characters we've met: Ivan, Stella, Ruby, Bob, Julia, George, and Mack. One of the themes of this book is the idea of belonging. What does it mean to belong to all of those characters? Does that meaning change throughout the book? What does the idea of belonging mean to you?
I think that Ivan should be with his family.
ReplyDeleteIvan is at home in the jungle. Bob belongs in a home. Stella belongs in the fields of Africa. I feel like my belonging is in a loving home.
ReplyDeleteThey belong in the wild with their family. I belong in my home with my family
ReplyDeleteI think it means to belong to all the characters in the mall and yet they feel like they belong in the zoo or the wild. The idea of belonging to me is to belong around horses and other animals and at my house.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of belonging to me means people notice you .
ReplyDeleteIvan belongs in the jungle, Bob belongs in a house with a family, Ruby belongs in a zoo.
ReplyDeleteI think Ivan belongs in the domain rather than the zoo because in the domain Ivan would be with all of his friends and in a zoo it would be like he had to let go of everything he had and start over because he wouldn't have the thing he has had his whole life, friends.
ReplyDeleteJulia belongs with the animals because she is kind to them.
ReplyDeleteI think belonging for Bob is that he belongs with Ivan because they're like brothers and who knows what Ivan would do with out Bob. Julia belongs at the mall every evening or all the animals would not be going to the zoo or any were else. That is what I think belonging is.
ReplyDeleteAll the animals belong in the wild.It does not change throw out the book.Belong means to me like I belong some were.
ReplyDeleteWhat belonging means to me is like Ruby does not belong at the big top mall. And Bob belongs with Ivan.
ReplyDeleteMack belongs in jail the meaning of the book does not change through out the book
ReplyDeleteBob should belong to Julia, and George. Ivan , Ruby ,and Stella should belong in the wild. Mack should go to jail
ReplyDeleteIvan should live in the wild and not live in a cage for the rest of his life. Ivan should live in the wild or at a zoo with ruby and they should have other friends to play with so they are happy. Ruby should find other elephants to play with so she won't be sad and I hope she finds and another aunt Stella so she wont fell lonely
ReplyDeleteIvan belongs to the wild. So does Ruby. Bob belongs to Julia and George. Mack belongs to jail. Stella belongs in heaven.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought Ivan, Ruby, Bob and Stella belonged in their domain. George and Julia still belong to the zoo.
The idea of belonging means to me is to be where you deserve.
Bob belongs with Julia.
