5th graders, sometimes reading fiction and nonfiction together helps us understand them both better. Now that we've finished reading Looking for Miza, think about what you learned from that book. How does it help you understand The One and Only Ivan?
I think that ivan has a realated story to miza because they are both lost in a way.
ReplyDeleteIt helps understand Ivan because it describes that gorillas belong in the wild and that they don't deserve to be in captivity.
ReplyDeleteI think Looking for Miza helped me understand how Ivan and his family must be really sad because Miza was lost and her whole family was sad and that helps me know that Ivan must be sad to be away from his family.
ReplyDeleteThat silver back gorillas have a hard life so that's why Ivan is sad and lonley.
ReplyDeleteDid Ivan get lost from his family and get found by a zoo person.
ReplyDeleteSomething that helped me is that Miza is happy and Ivan is not happy.
ReplyDeleteI understand how Ivan feels because before he was taken he was free but know he is not know he is trapped .
ReplyDeleteMiza lives in congo.Ivan lives in a mall. Miza gets lost. Ivan is in a domain.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Ivan's heritage from? Was he taken away or was he lost and rescued.
ReplyDeleteWhat I learned from Looking for Miza is that Miza was alone like Ivan is alone in the mall but Miza was in the wild.
ReplyDeleteHow hard it is to be a gorilla both in the wild and out. How did Ivan end up in his domain? How does he feel being traped in his domain?
ReplyDeleteHow can Ivan stand people staring at him.
ReplyDeleteI understand that Ivan feels alone all the time even with the other animals. He is a silverback, like in Looking For Miza and so he is supposed to protect other gorillas, but as you can see there are no other gorillas at their mall.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he will ever go back to his mom and dad and if they will still love him
